my buddys got an older saab with a bosch maf and its got the same type of plug as our afm's. has anyone ever tried it on our cars to see if it worked?

look, a MAF output curve is completely different from what an AFM puts out. Motronic is expecting a pressure reading, but instead it's going to get a mass reading. It won't work. It might run (hell, it will run with no AFM at all), but only by coincidence that it's seeing some signal and outputting some fuel, but it's not going to run well.
if it was as easy as plugging in a cheap junkyard MAF, people would have done this 10 years ago instead of spending hundreds on standalone, piggybacks, and other conversions.Comment
