    operating temperature?

what is the operating temperature of a 325is? i have heard 180 or 200 not sure. any help?

The OE thermostat is an 80C (176F) unit. So normal operating temperature would be 174-178F
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Some folk in southern climates install a lower temp thermostat.
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."

If an engine is running too hot:

        1) Its 190 F outside.

        2) Something is amiss (air inthe system, fan problem, low coolant, cooling passage blockage, failing water pump, stupid thermostat, muskrat blocking the grille )

        3) Operator error. You would have to be doing donuts on the surface of the moon for 10 minutes to cause an overheating issue, in which case you would be awarded by NASA for successfully operating an internal combustion engine in an oxygen-deficient atmosphere.

If anyone ever has a temptation to run a cooler thermostat, there is more than likely something up with the cooling system that should be corrected.

All this talk about poor performance from a cooler thermostat makes me want to switch mine to the regular stock one.

Particularly with winter in a few months.

What continent do you live on? In north America it's damn near June. Winter is 4 months away even up here in Canada eh.

Haha I kind of meant my post to be idiotic like that.

dude, this is North Carolina, not Texas. Install a 180* thermostat and make sure the rest of the system is clean and operational

a low-temp thermostat is a cheap band-aid for cooling system problems
