I've got an issue going in my '86 325e.
It feels like it is surging up to about 3k, and then pulls fine/normally after that. I can feel the car pull harder and lose power a little. If I shift into 2nd early and lug it, the car will actually cut out and miss a bit, until it reaches reasonable revs.
Car has a conforti chip, I'm running 91 octane, fuel filter looks new, has bavauto plug wires that look recent, bosch plugs that look very recent with correct gap. Idle air control valve has been cleaned as well as the tips of the injectors, and the injector O rings seal fine. Car has no vac leaks going.
Any ideas where to start troubleshooting? It doesn't affect the car's running heavily; it's just more annoying than anything.
