no, not the lower, just the upper. i took off the rotor and then the upper cover and that's where i'm at now.

And make sure the marks on the lower timing belt cover and the harmonic balancer line up.

It's not just the name, it's the formulation BMW uses. Personally I have always just paid the extra and used BMW coolant-the extra piece of mind is worth it to me, plus it's not like you are changing it that often.

Change it every two years or 30K, which ever comes first.

What is a good gallon cost anyways. So a gallon of BMW blue costs 20 bucks, cheapo cost 14. So 6 bucks huh. Spend the money get the good. Try rebuilding a head and scapping the cheap crap out of the coolant passages when it eats your head gasket. Just saying.

i've run that prestone dexcool orange colored coolant in both my cars (e30/e34) with no issues. i mean where does bmw get their smurf piss from? lol. i don't justify the price difference, its all about whats in the coolant, search a lil bit, you'll find it.

I work on a lot of GM's and always convert them to non-dexcool lol. Besides dexcool deviants are almost just as expensive as the BMW blue, more than any green stuff.
