    My eta stroker, pic heavy

    Gasket is perfect...

    Motor...

    Got to love Formula88 and Scotch-Brite :D

Gonna pick up the side-exit water pump in the morning, getting tired and don't know if the the new head will go back on tonite or tomorrow after my 9-5er. Sucks having a full time job, shop and program part-time at the CNC machine shop :/ 4 kids, 6 cars and a sick mother in law living with us is taxing when only one of us works :(

Nice thing about these parts not moving very fast is that I get to put one of each on my car, w00t! I powder-coated them satin black and polished the raised letters. Kinda like the way the ETA covers look a little better, but will probably go with the i cover...

    EDIT:

I just realized the there isn't a cylinder indication sensor here and am toying with the idea of leaving the eta harness in, and just burning a new eeprom chip for it, or try to run without it for now. Would be a lot more work to leave the 027 DME in there because of tuning time, but if I did, there might be a market for chips with an 885 head swap and 027 DME/harness...

BUT! AllData says the car will just revert to batch fire if the sensor is damaged/missing and since the current ECU is batch fire, then the sensor can just wait - who needs sequential injection anyways ROFL.

    Well I got her degreased...

    Broken fan belt FTL...

    Made in USA ROFL...

Amazingly clean internals (remember, she's only got 90k miles or so)...

Someone had a leaky cam seal :(

    Best work bench EVER!

Timing belt was hanging by a thread (no pun intended lol)

Would have more done, but if anyone has changed a serp belt on a pro-charged Cobra, you would understand - instead of 15mins, it took me almost 1.5hrs! Had to unbolt the S/C, coolant hoses, coolant tank, and the cold pipes from the charger to get to it :( Still after 10hrs here at the shop I did the Cobra while my bud swapped out two e30 windscreens (his is cracked, parts car had a good one), then he had enough time to unbolt the mani, intake pipes and valve cover before he had to take off an hr later, as well as getting to a point to pull the head in the morn.

She looks good for having open-heart surgery!!! she's on the best investment I ever made - a used lift!

and my bud "Silence" making a wind diverter for his roof rack (windscreen swap guy) :D

I think he mentioned Formula 88 and scotch-brite... which is a recipe for success. I use old gas too which is magical and on tough built up stuff I even use a razorblade at a low angle just to help pry the stuff up while being careful not to scratch the surface too much..

Yup, Formula88, it's made right in Hialeah. I have a 55 gallon drum I cut in half and fill it with gallons of the stuff for use in my shop. When it get's less potent, I will save it and use to to degrease engines after working on them. It's biodegradable, and about as bad on your skin as dish soap.

I used a red scotch-brite disk and my electric drill, the air angle grinder makes it too noisy lol. I then filled the bores with the 88, let them sit for a bit, then rotated them to the top and cleaned the tops. Before I put the heads back on, I will put bit of light weight oil in the bores to soak pas the rings. I didn't remove the oil yet and all this garbage should drain out of the pan when it's emptied.

Will use zinc oil for the first few oil changes at the least, keep everything breaking in properly. The head is rebuilt and ready to go, have had it ready for a couple of months, only bad thing is it's the stock cam :(

I have to go to pick up an o2 sensor tomorrow, but then the wiring is done - well have to feed the ECU connector through the firewall. Being a weekend, work show flow a little faster :D

would i be able to use the formula 88 and a scotch green pad? i dont have any legit power tools so i have to muscle through everything :(

so you fill each cylinder with the 88 stuff, let it sit for a bit, then rotate the piston up for cleaning with the disk? how did you handle debris getting in between the gap? or is that not really an issue...
                      ?

Correct. Let them soak for a while, then rotate the pistons to the top. I used a blow-off tool to get any remnants from between the piston and cylinder walls, but most of it will be dissolved from the 88. It's going to take you a while doing this by hand, I suggest you soak them over night in your case. After it's all done, you can dilute some motor oil with mineral spirits, and fill the cylinders again - then let it soak until it's all in the oil pan. This will also help loosen the rings back up, just make sure you put a little oil in there before putting the head back on to lube the cylinder walls.

so did you ever complete the "i" harness swap? any difficulties?

Wiring swap is done, no problems so far after reading strictlyeta.net. Picked up the necessary parts including new wires with the SFI sensor attached, crank trigger, trigger wheel, o2 sensor and coolant sensors today, so more progress pics soon :D
