Now if you needed me to tell you how size a bike chain, spoke up a wheel, set up studio lighting for portraiture id be good. PO including 3 random belts that were labeled but it was kinda worn away. I think one said alternator, another was for power steering i think.
I just spend 3 hours under the hood trying to get the shit out of the way to get to the belts and didnt get anywhere. Got the bolt loose on the power steering tensioning thing and it still wouldnt budge. Im so pissed right now. Decided to call it quits for the night as its pitch black and the work lights arent cutting it.
First things first. Do you have a bently manual? Next, try starting the car with the coolant topped off and when it finally gets some temperature(Not temp gauge in the red), look around in the engine bay for leaks. Now keep in mind, you'll probably have a short window before the car is close to overheating.

No, I need to get on that.
I did and it wasnt leaking. I drove it on some 5 minute errands and it didnt go into the red.
Got the belts back on and put the radiotor back, filled with fresh coolant and everything is back to normal. But the belt i had for the a/c compressor was to long so i just didnt put anything there, nbd for now as my A/c doesnt work anyways.
Ughhhh, somehow the power steering pump pulley was rubbing the coolant hose that runs to the bottom of the radiator which wore away a nice hole. I remember when i pulled the hose out to change the belts there was an extra piece of rubber zip tied to the hose in that area so now i know what that was for. FFFFUUUUUUU

that caused the steam. Same thing happened to me in my vert, there was a little hole in the radiatior and the cooling system builds up pressure when the cars running so it needs to be in a closed system. At least you noticed, you couldve drove it later after all the coolant steamed out and have burned it up.

Yup. I pretty much knew right away what was causing the problem. Time to get a new hose and figure a way to keep it away from the belt.

If this is an early M20 powered E30, there should be a retaining sleeve on the lower radiator hose that fastens to the frame rail. That will keep the belt out of harms way if the motor mounts are sound.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Yeah there is a clip kinda thing that holds the hose there but it still hits, gonna pull it over somemore with some zip ties. I think at one point the motor mounts broke becuase there are fan blade impressions on the back of the radiator but the fan is no where close now.
