I am taking my flywheel to the machinist in the next few days...

I was looking at some threads and saw where people were taking the flywheel down to 12 lbs. Is this right? What kind of instructions do I need to give him? Or should he know what to do?

any good machinist should know how to shave weight from the flywheel.

i told my machine shop to take the bitch down as humanly possible....kinda regret it from a dig of idle it is sluggish with my 6 puck cuz it grabs and there is not inertia to keep it moving...to each his own, i daily/abuse the shit out of my car so i guess i have no happy medium

Not every machinist will want to lighten a flywheel or know how much is safe to remove.

            Choose wisely.

there's a big chunk of metal on the back side of the flywheel (opposite to the clutch surface). you can pretty much shave all of that off. should be a good 5-7lbs worth.
