    intake flange marring

Whilst removing intake stud, I marred a bit of intake flange from outside to inside that meets the port. 1mm at the deepest. Will the pressure between intake mani and head against the gasket be enough to keep unmetered air from getting in? If not, I have a copperbased RTV good enough for 650 degrees F intermittent. Could i put a bit of this where the gouge is?

    Thanks

I have used that method with success, as well as putting the mating surface on a belt sander. In fact, when building headers, the flanges will often warp, and the belt sander has never failed me.

After reading that a bit, that might have no made perfect sense. The marring is on the intake flange on the head. Is that how you read it?

EDIT: nvm.btw ive been following your 2.7i build. I drooled a little when I saw the post-formula88-and-scotchbrite pics.

Oh, I thought it was on the manifold. If the head is already bolted to the block, then use the RTV like you thought in the first place.
