Thanks guys. So as stated above.... Even with the p&p job the ports are still not going to be as good as I ports.

anyone have the measurment of the port size of the two?

AGAIN!!! The 885 heads ALL had 7 bearing journals!!! The seta cam had 7 journals, so why would there be 3 of them non-drilled?

Here's a gasket that matches close to the 885 port laid on an eta port...

Not ALL of them were 7 journal cams, heads yes. Most I have seen/read on have been 4 and only the later ones were suposedly 7, I have one of the 4 journal ones.

American seta? Only one year was made and had 7 journals, not sure what you mean by early/late?

Yes, and yes only the one model year but it sounds like only the late 88s had the 7 journal ones.

OK, so, for argument sake. if it is a seta head. it still has smallers ports and a 37CC chamber and not a 42CC.

                basicly a large paperweight?

No, a SETA head is a 885 so the same as an I head

                    Hmm.

While looking for more info on this, I came across the fact that Sept 85 was the cutoff for the two different pistons used in the eta's. One having 10.2:1 and the other having 11:1. My car was built in Sept of '85, but can't see in the pics I took weather or not it has the 27 6KA or 27 6EB block (if ti has the early 11:1 block would explain why it's so freakishly fast).

Here I was going off info from r3v about the 8.3:1 compression, but according to the e30zone wiki page, it should be much higher...

Now I am going to have to pull the car in the shop and see if I can take a look-see at the block I have lol, can't make it out in this pic...

Here is a pic of a 4 journal one, you can see only 4 of the journals are drilled for oil passages.

                        Correct?

                        Thanks again so much guys!!!!!

Correct for the head if it is one of the 4 journal ones, the cam is different(obviously) and has single springs.

Edit: But you need to check the side of the head for the part number to see if it is a ETA or SETA

                              Thanks!

It's so hard to find accurate info during the times that BMW made changes...

Apparently all US models got the deep dish pistons :(
