And I made a MAF conversion for 3.2l M20 motors 3 or 4 years ago, but only sell it through Metric Mechanic to people that bought their M20b32 as if I sold it here, it would just get cloned.

        How about $50 "shipped?"

Your chips are vulnerable cause they are so easy to make a copy.

I really doubt that the 2-3 people here that are capable of copying your hardware for a MAF conversion, would. (Assuming a MAF conversion would require some hardware?) - I'd say you're safe. Build away.

(but make one for my m30 first! ;) )

ive done a MAF conversion on my M20.. not too insanely hard to do. im tihnking about trying a MAP conversion as from a tuning point of view it shouldnt be much different from tuning for using a MAF.

i used a volvo 850 T5 MAF and retrofitted the stock IAT sensor into it. my line of thinking is that if i went for a MAP swap i could ditch the MAF, install the MAP and retain the stock IAT sensor and only have to play around with the AFM transfer map.

@ george, if ur M30 is running Motronic 1.3 then u could basically duplicate something like my M20 setup, i like the volvo MAF because the round part and the actual MAF sensor come apart and i have seen a few cars in the junkyards with the same fitment/type of MAF but with a larger housing (pipe) than what i have atm so there is potential to upgrade to a bigger housing while keeping the same MAF which would really cut down on the time taken to mod the AFM transfer map as it would just have to be scaled up/down across the range instead of totally re-tuned for a different MAF.

            Currently E30-less

alright well i guess i'll just save the money and buy a miller maf conversion with war chip and turbo injectors. i'll just stick to my afm for now.

btw i have figured out that if you take black cover off the top of the afm. you will see a spur gear thats held on by a metal arm. if you move the metal arm and spin the spur gear anti clockwise one tooth only. you will get way better throttle response and idle is little better. my car had normal throttle response which wasn't that great and so i took a look inside the afm and messed with the spur gear and i got way better throttle response and idle.

just putting it out there if anyone wants to improve the throttle response just a little on their stock e30 with afm.
