Each 2.7i build i read is different....

Or they lack pictures. I've got a whole 325i thats an 89 thats for my using, i bouth an 86es from the guy and he's letting parts go cheap.

I think im walking away with a complete head and electronics for $100

SO! what i have been scouring the forums, stricltyeta, here and e30tech. But every time im reading, its something different

    SO FIRST
what i'm TRYING to do is do a 2.7i build, then turbo after i work out kinks.

So i'm not new to car builds, but i know a little, about a little. I've played with different cars (miata, nissan 240 with SR20, civics blah blah blah) but nothing extensive.

The parts i've listed so far that i know im getting with the $100
    1. Intake Manifold
    2. Throttle body
    3. Injectors and fuel rail
    4. Complete head
    5. The ECU

What i've found as optional are
    6. Fuel pressure module
    7. Thermostat housing
    8. Spark plugs

Plus, the 2.7i builds have pics that have expired, and imma just say, i'm PRETTY confident i can do this on my own, but i'd like to avoid getting stuck and having my car down

Other than that, i know it drops the comp. ratio and what not, but i'd be probably getting some 600 buck ebay kit.

Am i missing anything? I'm going to pull the parts tomorrow

You will need the FPR from an M20B25, the engine harness, and the AFM in addition to the parts listed.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      Fuel pressure module?

yeah, i thought about that too, the AFM, so that leave the wiring harness?

I called dude, he said he'd only toss in the TB and manifold with the head for $100

so $200 and i walk off with all of this worst case

wait, the TPS for the throttle body too?

you want the i electronics. you don't want anything electronic from an eta. if you're just getting ETA parts from the guy, the only thing you need is the short block.

for a second i thought you were buying parts off the eta...

you could go with a MAF instead of AFM. That's always an option (a little more pricey though).

this... ideally get an 88 eta short block (super-eta), otherwise... you just want to start with an e shortblock in an otherwise stock i.

            then add MAF.

What do you guys think about the tune? Will a stock chip suffice? I never ran the stock chip, went directly to WAR chip on my 327i.

okay, in that case you want everything except the block. and I mean EVERYTHING. :)

Lol. Well that doesn't help. I was trying to be specific. The original post was to verify NEEDED parts

Needed parts would be 1st post, 2nd post and the "trigger" wheel/crank pulley from the i and the crank position sensor with bracket that reads off that wheel.

Other than that I think you've covered everything with the 1st and 2nd posts.

And the thermostat housing just saves time as you are going to 2 sensors instead of 4. So I would say that isn't optional. And you need the i plug wires with that extra wire that "pulses" the other plug wire and plugs into the cap.

That's essentially it. You'll have to figure out how to wire up the starter if it's different from the harness and oil pressure sensor.

Yeah. I think I'm doin more than my knowledge knows. But I'll wait till I have two days off. Sucks. Economy is slow, nobodys buying cars an my cashflow isn't what I want.

is the build based on the eta? If you're going turbo, save yourself some trouble and go with aftermarket engine management now (megasquirt is a good option and cheap). If you do it now, you won't have to worry with swapping to a new engine wiring harness. Also, I think the eta and i exhaust manifolds are different (i has larger exhaust ports iirc).

yes, i have an 86E. And i'm going for a "cheap" turbo build after i put the "i" stuff on.

i've heard about teh megasquirt, but haven't even looked it up to see what it is really. But if it'd be easier/smarter to do then swapping all the wiring, that'd be great. And the manifold wont really matter i guess

this one was more expensive, but i've been told i can just source all the stuff myself and build it cheaper
