Source for rocker shaft set-screw "plugs"

Does anyone know a cheaper solution than $17 for 4 of these plugs from the dealership? Bavauto is the same price after shipping. Just seems a little ridiculous for such a small piece of hardware.

Why did BMW even make the shafts open ended, for cleaning the oil passage? Seems like if you're going to do that just remove and replace them all together.

are you talking about the metal plugs that go on the ends of the rocker shafts? or the rubber ones that go into the head?

I might have some of the metal ones. post a part # and I'll check

The metal set screws that block the oil passage.

Found them on McMaster-Carr for $5 for 5 of them but they are 12mm long, which is 5mm longer than the BMW ones

I was sure I have some of those but I don't have them in my inventory spreadsheet.

if I come across them before you find a set, I'll let you know.

man, rocker shafts sure have gone up in price. they were $20 when I rebuilt my head in 2005, now they are $100!

Yeah realoem says they are $100 but I got mine for $30 a piece, which is about right if you got yours for $20 back in '05
