    e30 M3 265 onto an E30 M20B25?

Okay, I have searched until I was blue in the face. All the info that I found did not leave me to a conclusive answer.

If I cross reference the part number of my transmission via realoem, it lists the E30 M3 Coupe as well as my 1993 325i.

However, when I searched realoem specifically for the tranny for an E30 M3, it shows it as having the getrag 265 transmission, instead of the 260 that my car is listed to have.

I happen to need a new trans, and have access to a getrag 265 that was left over from a swap.

Just need to know if I would have any issues using it. linkage, driveshaft, etc.... would it all bolt up?

    I have a late model 1993 E30 325i.

no, the 265 has a different bolt pattern shared by the M10, M30, and S38.

      ... but wait, there's more!

It's also a hella long tranny, so driveshaft is specific, too.

Nando's giving you good gouge, though. M30/S38 will mate up PERFECT.
Hey, those engines fit in the e30 chassis, too! hmmmmmmmm

You can do it if you buy the bellhousing for the m20/m50 family of engines. My 265 was formerly mated to an s52.

...only if you have a 265 with a removable bellhousing, and you can find a rare M20 bell housing for the 265.

I thought they were all removeable? The bellhousings were from early m20 e28 cars. I think those cars also have the 13lb flywheel.

all 265 gearboxes have removable bellhousing. earlier ones have mechanical speedo drive.265 will bolt to all m30 and m10 engines. 1982 only 528e had a 265 gearbox attached to m20 engine. that bellhousing will bolt the 265 to m20 ,m50 ,etc. happy hunting!
