    awful bloody awful MPG

As title says..OBC says i'm getting 11mpg city and while the OBC is sometimes off, it sure seems true.
I have an 88 325is...every gasket from the exhaust manifold gasket up is brand new (since i blew my headgasket 2 weeks ago). My temperature level reads on the 1/4th mark between the blue and the middle..I don't drive like a grandma, but im never WOT driving city...I always put it in the right gear...not sure what else.
It's just dreaded, I dread driving my car simply because of this.

      dude.

you need to calculate your mpg yourself.

fill up. reset your trip odometer and drive around for a week. then, fill up again. take the miles driven and divide it by the gallons required to fill up.

dont bother posting anything about your sucky mpg until you do this. you cant really trust your obc.

I did calculate it...came out to nearly the same number as my OBC reading.. (12mpg)

              injectors?
              cleaned your afm?

Sparkplugs are the OEM Bosch replacements brand new
Should I clean my injectors (or have them cleaned) ?
No, but I'll do an AFM test tomorrow to see if it needs to be adjusted or cleaned.

Another thing to add, I do have a slight sparkplug arc misfire that happens twice or so in a minute...but I don't think thats correlated.

spray carb cleaner in in while the car is running, but not too much, you dont want to start a fire do ya?

Put some marvel mystery oil in the gas. This stuff will really richen up your gas and make the motor run better.

Also check for vacuum leaks. I didnt think I had any until I took off the afm/throttle body tube and found a giant rip under one of the metal clamps.

Also check to see if your o2 sensor(the plug connection comes apart easily) or try replacing it and check the gaps on your spark plugs.

how would that clean the AFM?
Spray in to the AFM while giving you car some revs

I already seafoamed my car quite a number of times (300000+ miles on a 22year old car is quite the smoke show) so I'm assuming marvel mystery oil works the same as seafoam..correct me if i'm wrong.

The previous owner duct taped the intake hose pretty well :giggle: so I hope there isn't any leaking.

Gaps are set, i'll check out the o2 sensor.

Don't tell me what to do.
Actually I'll take it off and actually do a smoke test to see if it's actually leaking......................................
