    Euro Spec Pistons

IIRC European cars have a higher C/R, is this due to pistons? Will the Euro pistons work in a NA block. Any benefits or is it too much hassle to be worth it?

    Keep it slideways!!

Yes, yes, and yes (benefit)...However, you'll have to run higher octane gasoline if you up the CR very much...

Here are some Mahle piston specs for you to crunch on....

      M20B25 - 8.8:1 ('87 to '91 w/ cat) US spec

      M20B25 - 9.4:1 ('87 to '88??)

      M20B25 - 9.7:1 ('85 to '90 Euro i)

      M20B27 - 8.5:1 ('87 to '88 SuperEta) US spec

      M20B27 - 9.0:1 ('82-'87 Eta?) US spec

      M20B27 - 10.2:1 ('85 to '87 Euro e)

      M20B27 - 11.0:1 ('83 to '85 Euro e)

This is what info I know of. I cannot say with 100% confidence that all these numbers are accurate. If anyone knows anything else, please chime in.

Yeah, thats the comp ratio of our 325i down here, we got a few different flavours of eta motors though, thanks in part to the 5 series. There were actually like 5 or 6 different combinations of eta in the 5er.
Just a little project im working on

Ok, so I have an 85 Euro eta block. Now according to this what would my compression ratio be with the Euro M20B25 head that I have mated onto the block as of right now?

searched and found this old thread. Any idea on the P/N of the euro 9.7 pistons?

I could pull the ones out of me car and they might be on there but you will have to pay for the gasket kit. JK Here this is off realoem.com http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...54&hg=11&fg=20
Sorry edited cause that is just the rings. Here is the Pistons

Out of all those listed, which one is the 9.7 compression? Thanks for the response.
