    Oil pump prime

Hi there, I just put a new oil pump in my e30. When i started the car though, the oil light was still on, which i assume means no oil pressure. Do i have to prime the oil pump?

    Thanks for your help,
    Nick

pull the plugs and the fuel pump relay and spin it

if still nothing pull your oil filter and see if its got oil in it .. assuming you put a new one on

The oil light in the dash(pressure), or the dummy light in the check panel(oil level)?

did you prime the pump with assembly lube before you installed the new pump... This is critical. it allowes the new pump to create instant vacuum and helps start the pump correctly.

Its the dummy light on the check panel. Nothing on the dash, so i must have oil pressure? What happened was the left control arm on my car hit a manhole cover in the road, and the impact was so big that it broke the oil pump. I'm thinking that the impact could have also broken the oil level sensor too.
          Thanks for the help,

Just to clarify, the check panel light is for low oil level, not oil pressure.
