    dumb overheating AGAIN

Well it's not overheating, but it slowly crawls to the 3/4ths mark on the temp gauge. And I don't understand why.
If I rev it pretty high or if I'm leaving at first gear, it'll drop to halfway, so something is happening when the car is under load.
If I'm idling, within 6 minutes it'll go to the 3/4ths mark. But of course I don't let that happen, but I know it will.
    Here's whats been changed
    New Radiator
    New Water pump
    new hoses
    New thermostat
    New headgasket
    New Coolant Temperature sensor
It's been bled pretty well I'd say

Occasionally, it'll act completely normal and never go past the half mark at all, and sometimes even be a little bit before the half mark.
Doesn't make much sense to me. Help?

Are you sure your gauge isn't acting up?

I'm talking about I have to go to 5k to make a difference. In first gear I just get off normally and it drops.

        I don't think so..if it is, then it's a very evil device.

No, it only works when A/C is on. Will that actually make a difference ?

Well, my aux fan doesn't work (even when the A/C is turned on), and I'm experiencing the same things as you. The aux fan is supposed to come on at a certain temperature even if the A/C is not on.

I would think that it does make a difference. The fan clutch can't cool the engine enough by itself, so it will run hot while idling. But when you're moving, the air can help cool the engine, so it doesn't run hot.

Check your fan clutch. Sounds like a dead clutch.

The aux fan is only necessary when A/C is in use in hot weather. If the engine is running hot at idle and cools off with an increase in engine speed or when the car is moving the fan clutch and/or air in the cooling system become the prime suspects in this case.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

The other alternative is your radiator dirty? The cooling fins can get filled with crude over the years and make it hard for air to pass through them. Have you ever cleaned it out?

I would not use water at this point due to temperatures but compressed air works great.

My lower radiator hose is not warm, its cool as heck, while all other hoses are warm.

I checked my thermostat and tested it in near boiling water. It didn't open.

I put my cooling system back together without the thermstat to see if it would circulate through the radiator. I just let the car run until the halfway mark cause it'll obviously overheat without the thermostat. I checked the lower hose and it was still really cool. Whaaaaa?
Could it be a clogged radiator? I mean, it's pretty new and still shiny.

I hate working in this weather. Trying to get the thermostat would take me 5 minutes tops in warm weather. It took me 30minutes in 4* weather. bloody hell.

lots of cooling systems need the thermo installed to work properly. without it the coolant wont flow in the correct passages.

I know, I always had the thermostat installed. I'm just saying that if my thermostat was faulty and not opening, then temporarily removing it to test if its circulating through the radiator would prove that it's faulty. However, coolant was not hot in the lower hose neither when I removed the thermostat or when it was there.
