    fpr wtf

alright so in preperation to get my stroker ready to run i was pumpin the 87 octane out of the tank, so i pulled the hose from the fuel rail (feed side) and proceeded, once i had it down at the R mark i stopped so i didnt mess up my pumps as theyre already a bit loud. So i thought i might as well prime the whole system so i hooked the feed hose back up and flicked on the pumps. with my eyes on my IE FPR gauge i watched the pressure climb, at about 30psi the damn FPR starts leaking around the flange... WTF????

did i make a mistake in turning the pumps on without the car running?

i mean in my mind it shouldnt be a problem, especially not at 30-40psi, i mean if it spiked up to like 70 maybe.

looks like i need a new FPR.

You can run the fp with the car off - done it lots. You're actually lucky you found the leak before you drove it!

just be glad you knew about it, and didnt try to start it after fuel has been sprayed everywhere... like I did...

At least you found that the FPR had failed in a pretty tame manner. The more exciting way is when the leaking gas catches fire while the car is being driven.

Nothing you've done caused the failure. The seals in the FPR died from age.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

yeah i sent a message to ie for a new one or a new seal kit, the thing thats really annoying about it is now i cant start the car till i get the new one or the kit. though i guess i could just make gaskets if i could find some material.

pretty sure I have the same FPR as you - it's actually a Porsche peice (944 I think?) that IE sold at a huge markup. :|

i took it apart today to find that its not really just a seal but a diaphram so i just reassembled it and made sure the bolts were tight (they were a little loose on dissassembly) and it held pressure fine. I was able to start it up for a couple seconds, first time since the swapping.
