325i cams have a "K" stamped on them.

      Any stamp(s) on the ends?

      Its probably a re-grind.

Most bmw cams have no good id on them. That 060 is probably just the casting number of the blank and probably will give little evidence of what the grind is. Although if you have a local machine shop that has something like cam doctor, they can tell you the lift and duration. Or I suppose if you were really into diy, you could install it and measure with a dial indicator, but that sounds like a lot of work for a maybe.

              Also note the adverb "probably".

...Anyways, it would be more likely that someone building a 2.8 m20 would throw in a bigger cam than stock. No?

no end stamps...the idle seemed to be very smooth, with only mild shifting between 750 and 800 rpm. this engine was very strong for having worn rings. low , mid and high torque was very satisfying. can't wait to get it all back together. thanks for the responses. oh, and this is a kewl place to assimulate :borg:

no, I have a stock cam in my 2.8 M20. Also has a K stamped on it...

Well, I'd put in a bigger cam if I ever decide to build a 2.8.

It is a possibility thats its a re-grind, so I suggested it.
                    50/50 chance right?
