    Octane Booster??

Just wondering if anyone ran any octane booster with their fuel on the m20 and what brand... Is it safe also?? Thanks..

Is your engine pinging? If so, what octane of fuel are you running? and if so, you most likely have substantial carbon buildup in the engine or are mistaking another engine sound for pinging.

If your engine is not pinging and you are under the impression that more octane = more power (without advancing timing and such) be aware that running the LOWEST octane fuel you can run without pinging will yield the best performance. Just throwing that out there since I was once 16 and once believed that more octane = more power :P

I ran octane booster in my 96 M3 (62kmiles) not a significant power boost but the engine raeved up like an electric motor , so smoooooth,
I don't remember the brand but it claimed it would add 7 octane to the exisrting gas octane.
I've heared the ingridient for octane is called toluen, it's not recomended to be used often because it attacs rubber parts and fuel hoses ,
never tryed it on M20, but knowing M20 I don't think there will be a gain by using octane booster.
        Just my .02 cents

I used 104+ every now and then in my M42 and you could actually feel the difference. The car would accelerate quicker, or if driving grandma-style I would get better mileage than without it. I don´t know about the M20, but the recommended (not by me, by BMW) octane for the M42 is 93.

I have used different fuel grades, 87 89 and 91 here in cali in my M20 and the power gain doesn't justify the extra cost,
but when in cali the fuel went from 92 oct to 91 I could feel it in the M3 , I could feel something wasn't right , but couldn't figur out what, till one day I noticed the 91 at the pump.

I wish we had 91 here.

I was wondering the same thing.
Here in Cali we only have 91 so I was wondering if the higher octane (via octane booster) would help my M20 and my MarkD chip.
