Has anybody tried this...? Homemade engine mounts?.

Was looking for some urethane bushings and ran across this. Anybody tried this and if so how did they turn out?

    This guy says...

Flexane has a resiliency somewhat near polyurethane, and you can experiment with different mixtures if you want it softer or harder. These should have great vibration dampening, while retaining the rigidity of a solid motor mount.
But they’re clearly superior to the OEM mounts, as they won’t oxidize (like rubber) or deteriorate (like rubber).
As far as strength, it has a hardness of 97A (Shore D scale) and a tensile strength of 2800 psi. Even at 400hp, these mounts won’t see that kind of load.
As far as heat resistance, OEM mounts begin to degrade at 160 degrees F. I added heat shielding to mine, but I can’t imagine them seeing 180 degrees consistently.
At idle, it’s a little rougher than the Nismo mounts were, but nowhere near as rough as solid mounts. The Flexane provides some nice (but firm) dampening.
This project cost a grand total of $56, if you count the $50 for the Flexane.

That staight through bolt is going to make it feel and sound like a solid mount.

the rubber is still in between the 2 mounts. so it will still dampen. the bolt just holds it in place.

The thing is $50 is kinda pricey for the flaxane unless you plan on making a few sets. That pretty much puts it in the price range of existing mounts on the market.

                  incorrect.

if the mount was threaded into the subframe/engine mount it would.

                  it will just transmit noise.

still shit tho. stop being tight waffleswaffleswaffleswaffless and just go pay for proper mounts.

I was going to do "hocky Pucks"
all the 4x4 guys us them for as body lifts (lift the body off the frame)
There sturdy but flex enough to work..

Put them on the lathe and turn them down alittle, plus do the same with tranny mounts
pucks are about 1.125" thick so I would have to double up..

Seriously what the fuck, Wood most likely would not hold up to the abuse. Between weather, corrosion, water, salt. All those things effect wood far more than weather. I guess that is unless they used bear paint. lol
