    Shaky Warm-up

    Hey all,

    '88 325is here.

My car shakes a lot while warming up. Only at idle though. I went through and sealed the vacuum leaks that I found using a hose and listening for hisses. Car is still shaky idling - particularly during warm-up.

Would this be my coolant temp sensor for the fuel injection? Would replacing that require me to drain the coolant?

For the record I just replaced the spark plugs and the distributor cap and rotor are fine.

    Thanks,
    Peter

it could be running a bit lean. you don't need to drain any coolant to change the CTS, but a little might spill out. it's not an expensive part so it's worth a try. I'd also consider measuring the resistance of the CTS wires back to the ECU.

While the ECT (aka CTS) sensor is a possibility, I'll bet that you haven't found all of the intake leaks. Have a shop run a smoke test on the intake.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Hey guys sorry for the late response. Anyway I'll try to see if I can get a cheap-o coolant sensor while I search for a good shop to get a smoke test done.

        Thanks!
