    Problem With Idle

Okay guys I previously fixed my trouble with starting my car and not idling but it's only fixed to a certain extent. I found that the cruise control cable is what's been allowing the idle. Also, my fuel pump fuse blew. The #11 fuse. The new pump is retro'd and I raised the amp rating slightly and it didn't blow. When I adjust the TPS it doesn't change and it's new. So I need some help you guys.

    New Parts:
    -TPS
    -AFM
    -Fuel Pump

The affect of the TPS on idle speed is an all or nothing thing. The TPS is correctly adjusted when the idle switch in the TPS closes when the throttle arm is 0.030-0.060" off the idle stop screw. That tells the DME (or Idle Control module on an ETA) that the throttle is closed and that the DME (or ICM) should control idle speed via the ICV. Idle speed problems can be the result of intake leaks, a dirty or defective ICV, improperly adjusted idle stop or TPS, binding throttle body or cable, an aged O2 sensor, fuel system problem, bad ICM or DME, etc.

The place to start is to run the fuel system tests in the Bentley manual, have a smoke test run and fix the leaks it finds, clean the ICV and verify that it operates, and replace the O@ sensor if it has 100k or more on it.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I believe I fixed all the leaks. The intake manifold wasn't tightened by the thermostat housing and it had a leak there. I found it with starter fluid. So do I need to turn the Cruise Control line down? So when I adjust it'll be true.

Next question, how do you run a smoke test?

is it not idling at all like just stalling or does it idle rough,

I'd like to know what you find out because with mine it starts fine, idles fine then about 30 seconds later it idles like it has a cam, kinda funny because I've got a few people to believe me that i out a bigger cam in it but it just idles really bad then randomly it will go away

i have this same issue, sometimes i can have it sit nicely at ~700rpm, then again sometimes it surges, or moves between 700-1000...

checked for intake leaks, im good.. i noticed my brake booster has a leak.. could this be my cause? why would my idle be alright at some times even with it leaking?

Yeah mines sometimes sound like it has a cam in it as well. It's lopey and will have a slight miss to it. But it will randomly go away. I'm going to make sure the throttle is closed all the way via cruise control cable. I've got to figure this out. If you look up my threads I kind of did some good notes on the subject. Check it out.

I'm assuming it's another problem going on some where. Mine idles fine sometimes then other times its lopey. I don't get it but I'll figure it out.

Since I don't know how to import those quotes correctly. Brake booster hose leak is the same as an intake leak.
