Are you replacing the water pump? If you are go get a cheap 32mm wrench...put it on the fan clutch bolt so the lower side of the open end is on the drivers side of the car and the wrench is straight up. Then hit the box end with a decent sized hammer while putting pressure on the wrench so it turns clockwise (wear safety glasses...hitting a box end of a wrench can be dangerous because it can shatter). If you are replacing the pump you can hit it hard...if you are reusing the pump removing the fan this way can damage the pump bearings
Leaving the belts on helps also so the pump doesnt turn freely
When going back together you also dont have to "tighten" the fan. I just get it started by hand...put it on about half way then start the car and it tightens itself. This makes removal next time much easier.
