Ok my tolerance of cell phones is dwindling. Take it to a shop, machine the gasket surface, replace the valve seals, have them check the condition of seats and keepers

^^yeah. and only replace springs if they are not sitting up on a right angle.

ummm no. you test valve springs by the tolerance rate of compression. not by visual inspection. a spring off angle would most likely be caused by a retainer or valve keeper out of place.

This. I alway test them while they're out. IF even one it out, I'll replace them all. I see it as, "How many times do I really want to take this shit apart?", plus, I have kinda a thing for new OEM parts. OEM OCD is the technical term.

If I have to tear down a head, I want to put it back on in the best shape it's been in in the 20+ years of it's existence. I don't fool around.

as cheap as they are, it'd be a stupid reason to float a valve! :)
