Increase idle rpm

OK so link is dead but the way to do it is to uncrimp the body of the idle control valve so the body can twist in reference to the housing which holds the hoses. Then mark the factory position of the body and then twist it one way or the other to adjust your idle.

I'd post photos but the car I did this on is long gone.

If anyone else can add some constructive input that would be great, I am posting this for a PM I just received. In my opinion a light weight flywheel should not affect your idle, my JB racing flywheel was fine for a daily driver including a cam. Never stalled. The stock luk clutch on the other hand was junk lol, would slip and shudder...

I just went and did this procedure in the link above. It works! (so far).

My car was stalling when slowing down to traffic lights with the a/c on. ( I have a worn a/c compressor).

Now by twisting the ICV I can adjust my idle, nice. Going to help when I swap in my 2.8 stroker with a dbilas cam and jb racing light flywheel.

The only way is to reprogram the ecu.

I want to do this because of an aftermarket camshaft that makes the idle a little bit uneven. And this again makes the gearbox rattle.

As soon as I increase the idle a tiny bit this rattle goes away.

I do not want to remove the ICV.

The idle speed can be increased, but you will loose the functionality of the ICV. The way I do it on a race car is to plug the ICV hose with a coin and set the idle with the throttle stop screw. The idle won't be very stable, but that doesn't matter much to me because I have the idle set at around 1500rpm.

What you loose by doing this is automatic idle speed compensation for engine temperature and idle speed increase when A/C is engaged.

It makes sense to do this on a race car but I don't know why you'd want to do it on a street car.

Is there an easy way to increase the idle rpm to 850-900 rpm?

It is an 89 M20B25 with stock ECU and ICV.
