    My buddy's m20

Will randomly shut off while driving, then will crank but no start for a while, then drives again. Typical causes? He is not a r3v member, so i'm asking for him.

Randomly? After warmed up? When it's cold? Any common denominators?

      Here's one scenario:
Fuel filter clogged. Fuel pump then gets hot, trying to push fuel through, and shuts off. Give it time to cool down, and it works again. Symptoms get worse with time (more frequently shutting down, etc). Change filter, good to go, usually. If it's been doing this for a while the pump will eventually just stop. My dad's 'vert did this. I told him to replace the filter, but no....

Ended up just dead one day. Did the pump and filter, good to go.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. Also, the fuel pump had no cover smd the plug was taped on. We put a cover on bc it smelled like gas, but it may have adjusted the plug. Going to check out both scenarios tomorrow.
