How about using a switch when the car is turned off which cuts current to the DME so that it cannot store the long-term fuel trim data. Everytime you start the car after it sits for 15 minutes or so it should have a clear memory.

I think Jim's problem is it learns as he's driving around the track, so by the end of the race it's already leaned it out considerably.

In that case, I would imagine a variable resistor/potentiometer/volume knob wired in series with the oxygen sensor signal wire, would add resistance to the point where you could reduce the voltage signal that the DME recieves. So if the sensor generates 0.50v, the resistor could drop the voltage, making the DME think it is running lean and will try to compensate. But I suppose that would be against the rules as much as running the O2 sensor unplugged would be

EDIT: Just remembered the O2 sensor is ignored at full throttle, this would only work at part throttle.

So right know my only option to really fix my problem and find the missing hp is to get a MS2?

          Any recommendations?

you could do a WAR chip, or a custom chip (using an emulator/hacker software). The WAR chip will be easiest but have the least flexibility. MS2 is going to be somewhere inbetween. Support for MS2 on E30s is excellent though, since there's a billion of them running it.

PM whodwho on E30tech if you want a really nice PnP setup. Literally plug it in and go. :)

no, his exhaust sounds fine. I'd add a nice merged X pipe if you don't already have one, but dual 2.25" shouldn't be restrictive. the deal with a single 3" is it costs and weighs less than an equivalent dual setup.
