eta valve cover unused hole purpose?

Can someone fill me in on what this threaded hole in the eta valve cover is used for? I can't seem to find anything about it and I'm wondering if leaving it unplugged is causing a vacuum leak. Thanks!

I have no doubt it shouldnt be left open - vacuum leak, oil splatter. No good can come from this :-)

Is it an 85 or 86? Maybe for mounting bracket for reference point sensor and speed sensor? This is mentioned on page 4-12 in Bentley manual

its not a hole. it has a bottom. no oil or vacuum leaks will come from leaving it open

NICE! thanks a bunch. I put a screw in there and thought it was idling smoother but couldn't really tell. damn placebo effect.

hmmm all my wires for my eta are up in a bracket against the fire wall, off of the valve cover.

Its an 84-85 eta thing. They have the flywheel reference sensor connectors mounted to the VC.
