Know where I can get one of those? Any old auto parts store? If it does show to be the harness upstream of the injector harness I have a harness I can use.
Alright R3V. Im 80% stumped. (Now 90%) New development

Probably. They're sold under a few different brands including OTC.

We have a winner.
Used the light on the injector harness and the results were as follows:
Cyl 1: Clear and distinct flashing
Cyl 2: Solid and ON all the time with periodic brown outs but never went completely out
Cyl 3: Clear and distinct flashing
Cyl 4: Solid and ON all the time with periodic brown outs but never went completely out
Cyl 5: Clear and distinct flashing
Cyl 6: Solid and ON all the time with periodic brown outs but never went completely out
So at this point I have deduced that it is somewhere between the harness side of the C191 and the ECU.
Any advice for me? Anything else I can test first? I really don't want to tear this girls car apart unless I absolutely have to. This thing is the freshest E30 i have ever worked on.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.Comment

Ya im pretty certain at this point. Im guessing the vibration wore off the coating somewhere and it finally grounded while she was driving to the picnic. I guess I'm just second guessing myself because I don't believe in my own skills enough to believe i have gotten myself to the core of this onion :?Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.Comment

I guess unless someone else has any other tricks up their sleeve im going to start removing the engine harness until I either find a break or exposed wire or have it all removed. At which point I will take the harness from the 90 and install that one.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.Comment

The harness is easy to remove and install. You can't really mix anything up besides the CPS and the Pulse sensor plugs. Do eet.Comment

Reread post #34.
OP. Do you have a wiring diagram for E30? I would start with some continuity tests first to isolate where the problem is. If the car will stay running you also can fairly aggressively bend the harness back and forth all up and down it's length to see if you can make a difference (temp. un-short it) to help pinpoint the offending area.Comment

Well I have a bentley but thats about it. So is it safe to say that the reason why I could pull the plug wires on those cylinders is because fuel was just being dumped in at such a rate that the plug would not fire? Wouldn't it just run really rich rather than quit completely? I pulled a plug and grounded it and confirmed that I had spark on those cylinders. Just a little confused about that.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.Comment

Yes, your fuel injectors would literally be wide open, pouring fuel into the cylinders. WAY too rich to fire, a stock injector is prob capable of what 180hp? How many horses is that motor making at idle? 20? 30?Well I have a bentley but thats about it.
