Quick ECU question. 173 to 153.

    I pulled a Dinan chipped ECU out of an 88 iX. It's a 153. My iX is a 91 so i'm assuming it's got a 173 ECU.

Will I have any problems running the chipped 153 ECU in place of the 173? I did some searching and found information on upgrading but never going backwards. Thanks in advance guys.

From the 153 on, the DME's are interchangeable.

You can do it but it would be a downgrade from Motronic 1.3 (single board) to Motronic 1.1 (dual board). If you feel the chip is worth it then go for it.

The only real differences that matter are that idle control is better and the stomp test works in a 173 or later.

Thanks guys. I figured so but just needed a second (or third) opinion. Going to put it in this evening as well as an mtech 1 wheel!
