auxilary fan just staaays on

Ive got a 87 325is and just put the resistor on yesterday and for some reason this damn thing just stays on. I just want it working properly. I retraced my wiring, pulled off all my electrical tape and its all wired properly. I dont know what the problem is!

Maybe ill just try the wires in different positions.

Does anyone actually KNOW what the green/black or all black or black/brown wires actually function are. If i know that maybe I can reposition the leads and get it working

could it be the aux fan temp sensor that plugs into the radiator?

im almost positive my wiring is correct

That, a bad fan relay, or a bad A/C switch. If the fan is on with the ignition off, a relay becomes the prime suspect.

Unplug the senor see if that turns it off

so after some more research...i tried the fan with only 1(green/black) & 2(back) wires. The fan immediately cuts on when i turn the key to "on" position. When I press the ac button it stays on.. from what i read this is a way to test the low speed..
Next i again left wire #1(green/black) plugged in. this must be the ground wire?? no?
well i tested wire 1(green/black) with 3(black/brown) wire left plugged in, turned the key to "on" and it doesnt cut on right away. only once i hit the ac button..according to a write up doing wires 1&3 together should be high speed fan...soooo should high speed fan come on with a/c. I thought the low fan did that. should i switch wires 2 & 3 which are also the terminals theyre in. I am assuming the green/black is still the ground since that wire stays plugged in

and my bad the fan doesnt stay on while the cars off..it just stays on when the car is cold, wu=hile im on the highway i believe and when i turn the key to the "on" position

a little more insight...
i tried switching 2 & 3 the al black wire with the black/brown turned the key to "on" position and my fan was on TUUUURBO speed..or maybe thats just high speed. this is the first day with a resistor working so im not really sure what i should be hearing

after more testing of wiring possibilities i did the green/black wire in terminal 3, brown/black in terminal 1 and all black wire in 2. turned key to on position and no fan. hit the a/c button and TURBOOO FAN. could feel the car shaking it was soo fast.
got the same results from switching the wires to all black-1, black/brown-2, green/black-3

now im trying the all black wire at 1, green/black at 2 and black/brown at 3...the fan came on as soon as i switched the car to the "on" position. you would just be unpluging the sensor not removing it from the radiator bro

well unpluging the sensor would stop the fan!
thats the power source right? cause unplugging the sensor turns it off..but i would expect it to

The sensor in the radiator is a pair of thermo switches. One trips at 91C and causes the fan to run at low speed and the other trips at 99C and causes the fan to run at high speed. If the fan turns off when you disconnect the sensor, it is bad.

fail the sensor only is suppose to work with it reaches a certian temps one for low speed one for high... your sensor is fucked

oooh so if i unplug the sensor and turn on the a/c the aux fan will turn on? my ac doesnt work since theres no belt on the compressor but it should have an effect on the fan.
im going to go try it now. and does it sounds like my sensor is fucked. oh well. at least im getting closer to my car not overheating!
