Coolant leak - dripping from a/c compressor?

    Coolant leak - dripping from a/c compressor?

    Well I've got myself a pretty severe coolant leak.. my car heated up like a mutha****er on an otherwise decent first date with a girl that might be worth fixing my car for ;)

    So yeah, basically the temp climbed like crazy, and by the time I got back to my apartment it maxed out the dash temp gauge... I know you're gonna give me a hard time for driving it like that... but it only surpassed the useable range for about 2 minutes...


    Anyways, I filled it up with water and turned it on... had to wait for the thermostat to open up, then it started dripping from the bottom of the a/c compressor. Perhaps it's kinda dripping its way there? Has anyone had a similar issue? Where is my leak?

    I'm thinking rear crank seal.

      Well AC comprisors with coolant are rare. LOL JK
      I bet you smoke the water pump or the front on the head gasket. Never look for the leak at the bottom. This thing called gravity make things up high end up low. Its weird. ANd yes pulling over is WAY better than Well I think I can make it.

          If the needle made it to the red, even for a very short time, the odds of damage to the head gasket are pretty high. That damage may be immediately evident or it may not show up for a little while. The most likely symptom will overheating from air being pumped into the cooling system. The next most likely symptom will be milkshake in the oil.

          Coolant dripping off the A/C compressor is probably from a hose failure or water pump failure.
          The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

                If you have the early model water pump with a hose leading to the expansion tank Id look at where it connects to the pump and make sure its not leaking there, mine is very slowly and I get dripping coolant from the A/C compressor and bracket
