    Alternator Swap OK?

I have an 89 325xi and a 90 325i parts car. The 89xi has a Valeo alternator that looks like original equipment. This car has flickering lights and the battery is not charging well (voltage regulator?). The 90 325i has a Bosch alternator (AL49X). It looks newer, like it was replaced. It is also smaller. Is it OK to swap these two? Any downside to the Bosch alternator? Thanks!

Go to a real parts house and buy this:http://bavauto.com/shop.asp
I got mine at carquest cheaper than than bav auto. WOrld pac sells E30 stuff. You do not even have to pull the alt to change it.

Thanks. I already took the alternator out, but it is good to know I don't need to for the future. I looked i[ my alternator on Bavarin Auto Parts and they list the Bosch AL49X for both the 89 325xi and 90 325i. Should have thought of that first! Still the Valeo looks like a higher quality part, so I think I will use the Bosch temporarily and get the voltage regulator for the Valeo

Yes they interchange. And it's called a 325ix.
