    Euro m20 motor, motronic 1.0 on m20b25?

I will start off with a background on the car.
1986 325iX euro with 5 speed. (Yes genuine euro ix with 5 speed and 3.64 diffs)Over 200k miles on the car, it was bought running with the AWD working by the previous owner who had the timing belt snap on him. He rebuilt the motor.

Supposedly the pistons are forged Ross, Rods are forged RMI with a stock head gasket, stock compression and bore and ARP head bolts. (assuming stock crank) Needing a new head he pulled the cluster and head from a car marked 325i in the junkyard and put it back together. He tapped the oil pan at the same time and built his turbo setup. Upon startup it threw blue smoke and he decided to get rid of it.

Curious as to the eta cluster, he replaced it with, I figured he may have put an eta head on the m20 which I thought was an 885 head. I checked yesterday, old head

Current head as it sits on the car, it is the early eta 200 head, with smaller valves and differently shaped combustion chamber from what I understand.

    Now on to my questions,
    1. How much damage is done to the motor? Obviously I need a new 885 head and he says it might need new rings. I cant start it right now since the oil pan is tapped etc. Might the forged rods be damaged? it has a couple start ups on it.

    2. This car has motronic 1.0 with 35 pin ecu, I can't find much info about this, fault codes etc but i guess this car also didnt have an oxygen sensor. Does any one have any info about motronic 1.0 and euro m20s?

    3. Should I fix it? (either thinking turbo or back to NA), there is some rust and he has the bumper, prob need a new valence. Rust is surface rust on some of the paint and rocker panels/ arches.

And what you've been waiting for, a picture. Notice the rust under drivers door and on rear fender, seems mostly cosmetic.

And ive got the euro grilles ;)

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

    Nothing?

I have been doing more reading on the motronic 1.0 ecu and am onfused, perhaps some of you have some info. There apparently was no 02 sensor, but there is a ICV. The reading I have done said the early m20s didn't that.

Euro M20B25 had higher compression ratio, like 9.3:1 vs American 8.8:1 but, any way to tell what this ix has, or just wait until I rip apart the block? I can get my hands on the old pistons and will see what measurements I can get

I am wondering if the injectors are the same, or if they should be the low impedence injectors similiar to the ecu in the 35 pin eta cars. I think not, but it is a good point to consider.

Does anybody know anything about motronic 1.0?

Could you not just convert all the items from later motronic? I say fix the rust and fix the turbo. It will be a very unique car.

Thanks Rob thats what I am thinking right now. Converting 1.1 to 1.3 is easy, but converting 1.0 to 1.3 involves a lot more work, but can be done. That may be way down the road if ever. Will be diving into this more this week and next.
