Oil filter relocation directly off block. No filter housing.

Hello. Im in need of thread size/pitch for the oil filter housing/location. What I'm after is a hose that comes directly off of the block and runs to a remote location where the filter will be placed. There is no oil cooler.

What is the thread size of the female oil filter threads that are built onto the block? On an early model E, there is no filter housing/cooler so all it is is a little male/male adapter that threads onto the block and allows the filter to thread on to it. I need a thread size for a hose that would fit the male/male adapter so I can relocate the filter.

Sparknotes: what size are the threads on an oil filter adapter for an early model E? This picture: http://www.exx.se/objects/bimmerforu..._block_001.jpg

Don't know the size but I am curious as to how you would make this work without making a block or similar to cover the whole area where the filter seals to the block. Are you going to tap the block on the supply or return and run two hoses?
    Just curious...

You need more than just the threaded connection in the center. Next to that is the hole in block that is the supply from the pump (or the return, I forget which is which).
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Damnit, you guys are right. I completely forgot about that little hole.

Is there a universal thing that I could use to relocate it? The reason I need it relocated is because my headers don't fit. Any suggestions?

          but...

wont the oil flow in through the male to male adapter, then through the filter, then out the holes in the bottom of the filter, then into that hole?

why would you need anything else?

i looked and couldnt tell any difference there between e and i blocks. the reason im concerned is that i did this swap on my ex's i. her oil cooler was leaking, so i just put this adapter in. im worried she's not running with a filter now...

The filter itself will act like the housing in that case. The blocks are identical.

Don't worry. The filter is still working.

i went to a junkyard. i actually found an eta with the head removed. and the oil cooler removed.

made it incredibly easy to get. haha.

I have that piece. The only issue is that my manifold wont fit with the filter coming straight out of the block (even with a short filter)

look into sandwich adapters. I'm running one on mine but only because I plan to use an external oil cooler. I do still have my oil filter on there, but you can get sandwich adapters that don't do this.

sorry, none off the top of my head. they come in thread ratings and have some outlets for sensors/AN fittings. You'll seem them called sandwich plate or sandwich adapters.

What are the thread sizes I should be looking for?

The Volvo 740/940 Turbo's have a filter block/sandwich and the filter is oriented towards the back. Might be adaptable, certainly cheap in a j/y.
