I ordered a set of headbolts and they came with no washers, are the washers neccesary? Are the old ones reusable?

i reused my washers without any problems-FREEDOM- is cruisin at 80, windows down and listening to the perfect song-thinking "this is it"

as mentioned above they are necessary; I had a incident where I got a car with a leaking head gasket. The head was bolted down without washers and suspect that "if" it was torqued properly which I doubt it was resulted in the bolts digging into the bolt hole surface of the head and causing the torq specs to be off later resulting in a leak.sigpicComment

are the valve cover nuts supposed to have washers? its a good point how torque specs will be thrown off if washers are missingm20 is plenty. im simply a drifter.
