    race gas?

This weekend I'm going to participate in my 2nd autoX event.
My brother mentioned buying a tank of race gas. My concern is, would this hurt my stock fuel system/ management? I have the 173ecu w/ TMS 93 Octane chip.
are there any pros and cons?

Higher octane means more power. I would

      no, no, no it doesn't.

run the octane rating for your compression ratio and timing curve. the stock engine is only 8.8:1. the stock tune is way, way below MBT. using race gas is going to be a total waste of time. and since it burns much slower, it's going to likely cost you power too.

Even with a chip, it's not going to be helpful. stock M20s are not knock limited.

Only if you run compression and/or timing to make use of said higher octane to create higher power.

Octane is just a measure of detonation resistance of a particular fuel.
