    check engine light...

So last week my brother was driving his 89 325i when if started over heating,we pop open the hood to see that the clutch fan has been scraping a radiator hose, which eventually made a hole in the hose. Big mess coolant all over the engine bay....He bought a new hose, replaced the old one, filled it with coolant. Now when the engine goes over 1 thousand rpm the check engine light comes on. how do i figure out how to fix it? Anyone know what it could be?

Use the "stomp test" for pull the fault codes from the DME and go from there.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

1231 - Battery Voltage / DME Main Relay error code can mean that battery voltage is out of range (either too high or too low), or that battery was disconnected. Test charging system and /or battery to find problem cause.
