    2.7i Turbo Build Questions....

Im trying to put together a m20b27 turbo car built for drift events. (im not some punk kid throwing an ebay kit on and doing donuts in a parking lot with bottlecaps) I would love to run XDC and/or Vegas pro-am this year. Funds and relearning the car depending. I have been drifting for 4 years now. I have a 86 325es coupe, 4.10 welded diff, bc coilovers, e36 steering rack and other smaller stuff like hydro ebrake, rack spacers, etc.

My plans now are 885 on eta bottom end. T3/t4 turbo on 10psi (start at 7 work to 10psi) 30lbs injectors, tuned on moates ostrich 2.0 and msd boost timing master. (plz dont tell me i need ms or miller ive done my research and this is what i will be running.) I have a F1 lightend flywheel also.

    So couple questions...

    1. From everything ive read bmw used a factory cast pistion in the m20's (all the U.S. m20's) correct? How do guys get away with using stock cast pistons with a turbo and running to 6500rpm?

^info on this will help me deside weather or not to rebuild my bottom end.
I dont see spending $900+ on pistons. I can buy 9 eta's with that or throw my 12v pride away and buy a v8...

I have a 885 head that i am fully rebuilding, new valves, springs, rockers, cam. So question....

    2. The head had 2 bent valves and the cam was badly worn. So which cam should a be buying... (Regrind... anyone had problems with the heat treating? Worth saving the money on?)

Sorry for the random'ness i tried to order it in the best way.

P.s. Plz guys only comment on these if you have good info to give. I dont want to be hated on, i get that enough from my local forum. I want to go out and compete with the japan cars here in the U.S. Show what a e30 with a 12v can do!

^ agreed! Erich in seattle is doing it but with a 240sx motor in his car 1.8L turbo. I know my m20b27 can make more power then his..

Id running some 42lb injectors, duty cycle for me with 30lbs and 10psi was a bit too high and began to run lean above 10 psi.

I'm ran stock Pistons on ETA bottom end
With eagle h-beam rods for a year ar 10lbs.
Never had so much as one issue.
I eventually switched to stock toyota supra
2jz Pistons because They are 8 grams lighter each.
That mad a pretty significant difference in acceleration.
I never dynoed it but it is around 300hp at 10lbs with water/meth injection.

Because it just smoked the brand new clutch when I first
                Drove it.
I do a lot of rally/road racing in the ozarks so I use Megasquirt
To be able to switch maps/boost/flat shifting and rev limiter to not kill me on dirt.
Please let me know how yours turns out.
                Good luck.

                  Also I'm running stock 325i
Injectors and have never ran lean.
I had trouble at first keeping them
from going fat at full throttle!
So you will be just fine with stock injectors.

Quoting because you speak in cryptic weird messages.
Op. Don't use stock injectors bad things will happen.
                    Going fat at full throttle
                    Will
                    cause engine boom.

don't let the fact that I've only just started posting scare you.
I've been building m20 BMWs for over ten years now.
There is literally nothing I don't know or haven't seen about these engines.
I just don't really like to put my hard earned knowledge out for anyone.
But nobody seemed to be helpful to you inquiry.
Hopefully my info will help with your decision.

save your time and headache and get Megasquirt or similar and avoid other fuel controllers or so..

Also moving the afm to the other side will give you zero result as i've tried before..

42lb are better than your choice as TheTachMan said ..

Stock pistons are more than enough for your plans ..

I advice you not to look for small amount of power (hp, torque) .. if you want high quality e30 drift car you should reach 350 / +hp or this will not going to be that fun since you said that you are four years experienced drifter .. (IMO)

                        Good luck,

Not NEARLY as fast as you will melt a hole
in the top of your Pistons with a lean condition!

I was only saying the stock injectors
Are more than enough for oldskoole3's
                            Project.
They are more than capable of getting
                            Enough fuel to the engine.
After I used a quick auto tune with tuner studio
My AFR leveled out to exactly were it needed to be.
                            Like magic!
It has never ran lean/rich or hot In the two years that
I've flogged it to the 6600 rev limiter many times everyday.

If you do want to keep the afm talk to forcedfirebird is his name I believe, also sssquid can setup you up for a chip.
Megasquirt would be alot better for drifting as it has a lot of saftey features.
