Car Wont Start! Need Help ASAP

    A bad coil or broken timing belt are possibilities, but they won't prevent the DME from running the fuel pump. (Replaced coil, same problem.)

    If the pump didn't run when you jumpered the relay socket, the fuse could be blown of the fuel pump could be dead.

                Are you positive you are not getting fuel? You should be able to turn the key to run and hear the pump prime but unless you have a leak you should not smell fuel even when its working properly. Check for power to the coil, then from directly out. If you are getting power in but not out and the coil has been replaced I would replace your Crank position sensor.

                  I replaced the reference sensors (Crank sensors) still nothing. I dont here the fuel pump running either.

                      look up how to jumper the fuel pump relay to make it run while the ignition is in pos. II.

                      Then you can check for the sound of fuel coursing through the rails and lines. Better yet, remove the fuel IN hose and put it in an empty bottle then check for fuel coming out.


                      Or if your anal and don't like backyard mechanics, get a gauge in the lines and check the fuel pressure.

                            First of all, Do you own an electrical test meter? If you dont i would get one and learn how to use it well(maybe study some electrical theory,ohms law etc.). You can find the test procedure for just about any component in your car. How did you test your reference sensors on your trans?edit: read you replaced ref. sensors... Also fyi,iirc if said sensors are reversed your car will not start.

                            Second of all, on e30s, at least with m20s, the fuel pump does not prime or run until the car is cranking, I believe our cars are supposed to hold the fuel pressure to reduce cranking time. I installed a fuel pressure gauge in my fuel line because it tells me instantly what my fuel pressure is and if my car is bleeding off fuel pressure. You can also buy a battery cable from a parts store and make a extra ground and attach it from your throttle body or valve cover to the body.

                            Besides what you already did, I would check all your grounds and fuses and relays, if you have 12v at the fuel pumps when cranking. It might be a good idea to get some spares of things so you dont have to test every suspected component and if you forget the specific test or spec you have a baseline of a known good one, like a spare dme(same kind:325I=173,153 etc.), afm,icv, coil,tps etc. That and maintanence. Like timing belt,water pump, fuel filter, all fluids etc. Ive followed this and my car has never failed to start on me or stranded me and ive been beating on it everyday for over over 2 years(but am on second motor and trans,diff,lol).

                            p.s. my buddy replaced 500$ worth of sensors etc on his e30 trying to figure why it was down on power and running rough. I walked over, reached down and wiggled his engine-chassis ground...tightened it and all was well. throwing parts at a problem without testing them is like pissing into the wind...
