86 325 misfire or boging down problems

hey everyone. i have a 86 325 eta. and im woundering if sum1 can help me with my problem.. thing is the car runs but engine feels like its trying to cut out midway through exceleration. it exelerates like it should then pulls back real hard (bogs down) and then exelerates hard again. it does it less if gas pedal is less than 1/4 way down.. but still noticable..
more info: bounching idle. ( only after warmed up)
replaced cap and ignition rotor ( with good used parts)
new spark plugs and used ignition wires( better than what was in it)
also i just did a valve ajustment early today. as well as fixed a rip in the intake boot

the casr has continued to act this way since i bought it a month ago.
new parts = no change. it runs smoother now after the valve job but still bogs midway during moderate ans espetially hard acceleration

whatd your old plugs look like?
when did you last change fuel filter?
do a stomp test and pull your codes then report back.

Stomp test doesn't work on am eta.

Fuel filter or clogged cat would be my guess.

cat has been deleated by po, and stomp test does not work
ill try fuel filter.. but it pulls like it should at upper rpm.s

old plugs were slight yellowing/browning but didnt look to bad.. other than gap on old plugs was huge compared to the new ones gaped at i think .035 old gap was at least 3 times bigger

A momentary loss of power in midrange could be a worn spot in the AFM resistance track.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I hade this same problem with my old e30 and at one point my old five series. I got rid of my e30 before I would fix it but In my five series I did the O2 in it and it fixed it.

                      Probably CEL with p1222 code

I have the same issue and have replaced:
                      Fuel filter
                      Fuel pump
O2 (old one was bleach white) obviously issue from running lean
                      Spark plugs

Next up: Fuel pressure regulator; if that doesnt work, fuel injectors, then AFM

wow thx paperplane thats a awsome write up, and as of last night my car is dead,
died at a stplight and wouldnt start, idle got really erratic, once i got it to start again pulled into a parking lot and ajusted the iac, smoothed the idle out alot.. got it home but barely
was almost acting like i was running out of gas, put gas in and went for another test drive and pretty sure the fuel pump died, had to push it home.. car wont start, these older m20s have dual pumps right? gonna have to wait till tomarrow to test anything cuz its pouring and iv been living in a hotel the past week

the problem got worse to the point were i could barely accelerate at all, pretty sure thats dieing fuel pump.. if it is im just gonna do a single pump conversion

Okay. So I do not have a fuel pressure guage. I unpluged the fuel return line and fuel shoots out if I try and start the car.. so thinking pumps not bad. Also there is spark.

It acts as if it almost wants to start if I press the gas pedal down
But if it starts to catch its not firing on all. Cyl and.is deal by the time I stop turning the key.

Also something I noticed was the radiator hoses bloted up and pressurized from just trying to start the car.. and I'm pretty sure in the past it has been burning a little collant.. do you think the head gaskets blown out? I'm gonna run a compression test tomarow if it stops raining

Sounds like you have a head gasket leak. Do the compression test and report back.
