ok. got the compression test figures, and there pretty horrible..
the hasnt driven in a week and i didnt put any oil in the cylenders.. ready?
    150
    60
    90
    100
    55
    140
...... needless to say pretty sure the heads damaged.. seeing as how most the low numbers are near the middle and from what iv heard, with straight 6 engines the hotspots are always in the middle im thinking the head may be warped from overheating..
im still going to check fuel pressure tomarow.. i just mainly want the car to get me through the winter.. and if i can drive it even with low compression. i will...
i dont like headsaver type shit and not a fan of using it. but anyone ever use it in a m20?

Those numbers look more like valves or bad rings than head leaks. A wet compression test and leak down numbers will tell more.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

well the car has been burning coolant pretty much since i got it... the low numbers might be a little higher with a wet test. ether way though shouldnt the car be able to start and run (if not running shitty) even with those numbers?, im still thinking its a fuel problem, as right b4 it died and wouldnt start i could barely press the gas pedal down with it running without it trying to cut out..
gonna try some starting fluid, take out the fuel filter, and see if it starts .. it might be a few days untill i can get a fuel pressure tester.
autozone wants 150 to rent one
and i aint got that kind of money..
ether way whatever more info i get ill let you guys know

so changed fuel pump, car would start everytime. w/o starter fluid. idle perfect,
took it for a test drive. got about 500 feet went to shift to 3rd. and car dies didnt stumble or anything just dead, wouldnt start back up even with starter fluid,
i pulled wires and it had spark, pulled fuel line to cold start and it had pleanty of fuel...
even when running good if i opened the throttle to fast the car would try to die...
            im stumped

how do i test the tps and would would the car do if it was bad? for a slit second it had really good acceleration... and when trying to start it (after it died) i could smell fuel like it was maybe flooding?

sorry typo i changed the fuel filter not the pump
and im starting to see coolant in the oil.. im tryin to decide weather i want to even pull the head or not. as im living in as hotel right now.. a hg isnt really something id wanna do in the parking lot
anyone in michigan want a cheap roller with a few extra parts?

i tested fuel pressure, and its @ 2.5 bar right where it should be for an eta,
also i think i ficed the problem i was having with it dieing and not wanting to rev, i cheacked out and cleaned off the tpd sensor (it was covored in oil even the prongs)
and it started and ran and revved fine. still laking responsiveness as is there is a lag
from when i pull the throttle to when it revs but its not trying to die when i rev any more
although. head gasket is compleatly blown now, the car still runs but i wont drive it because the oil as of today is milkshake
my head gasket came in from pelican parts so i will most likely be tackling that this weekend ( i ordered goetz hg and victor reinze head bolts, btw the goetz gasket looks amazing! real quality there

The head will need to go to a machine shop to be checked for warp and cracks. It will almost certainly be warped enough to justify surfacing. While it is out you should have the valves ground and new seals (at the minimum).
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

sry to bring back an old thread but i did fuigure out this problem, i replaced the head gasket and my ecu went out but wial testing all the wireing to conferm ecu was bad , all sensors were good but afm. it reads 685 ohms at closed goes steady up to 1200 then goes down to 600 and bounces around all over high and low when slowly opening. the bogging down was the car leaning out from the afm reading going all over the place id imagine
