    m20 head bolt question.

So I just bought a new set of 14 head bolts from Napa and they were threaded longer like 2-1/2 instead of 1-5/16,so I returned the set and went to some local European parts supplier and they gave me the same exact set $20 cheaper..do these bolts stretch or am I getting hosed repeatedly..because if these don't stretch then won't the longer threads "steal" eat right through my head bolt journals?"aluminum"

All bolts stretch. Use a torque wrench and what ever the bolt manufacturer rates the bolt at with or without oiled threads.

The amount of thread on the bolts, provided it is enough, isn't important. The metallurgy and machining of the bolt does matter in this case. I would not use as head bolts any that aren't made specifically for this purpose. And I prefer OE bolts rather than some random make.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

OK let me start over because my question isn't very clear, should I use these head bolts that two semi reliable places have sold me despite the odvious difference in thread lengths?

B*saint -if I torque these bolts down the threads are longer on the new set,so won't I have excessive threads in my head bolt journeys and then they'll damage my head?

How would they damage the head? It's not threaded.

              What brand are the bolts?

Use the bolts. If your head is moving around enough that the extra threads eat into the head, you have bigger issues than a destroyed head.....
