    Another surging issue

I came home from work yesterday and parked the car after my daily 25 mile commute with no issues. Got back in 20 min later to leave and when I started the car the idle was surging between 700 and 1500 on an even rhythm.

The car is my 87 325is

So far I've checked the resistance on the ICV and checked the TPS at idle as well as WOT. both are within spec. Turning the key on actuates the ICV to about 3/4 open and buzzing. I have no CEL showing up and ran while spraying carb cleaner all over the boots and hoses. I can squeeze the ICV hose down and the idle stabilizes.

I need someone to direct me where to go from here. Any help is appreciated.

Try to actually remove the ICV hose and look for smaller cracks.

Remove the ICV and clean it. Then replace the O2 sensor unless you have proof that it has less than 100k on it. Follow that with a smoke test of the intake and crankcase & repair as indicated.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Cleaned the ICV and I had replaced the o2 a few months ago for good measure. I guess its smoke test time

Just to add what the final result was. It was the DME. swapped it out and all is well now

Curious - as I read this answer many times - you just happened to have a DME laying around as a spare?
