    Euro M20?

    Quick question..

    Was the European release of the M20 any different from the american?

    ealier ones (without cat convertors) had slightly higher compression, but after cats were standard (1988? 1989?), no.

    it's like a 3hp difference anyway..

      Don't they also have a manual idle adjustment screw and no throttle position switch?

      I may be wrong, but they may also utilize the distributor mounted on the drivers side of the engine rather than via the cam sprocket.

        that is only early 323i/320 engines with L-jet. M20B25s all use Motronic. Never a distributor.

        actually, the OP didn't get specific as to which M20 he's talking about. there's M20B20s, B23s, B25s, and B27s in europe. the B27 and B25 are basically the same, and we never got the other ones.
