cracked a head on my 85 eta. can i put an I head on it? i know you can just slap one on a seta without any modification of the pistons or the head. is it the same for a regular eta? thanks for the help.

I would recommend getting the I - intake manifold as well. the blocks are the same for both eta and seta. it is called Seta because of the upgrade.

Yes, it will bolt on and work. You want to also swap the i intake, wiring, computer, injectors, AFM, o2 to go with it.

The Super Eta was an 88 only engine option, it has different pistons than the Eta or i engines.

Good friend of mine did it on his Eta. He also did a port/polished head with cam. It was faster than a stock i.

you will end up with sh*t compression without changing the piston heads, or turbo'ing.

my friend had his build at dinan. he had an eta block and crank. using I rods, since the eta's are a bit weak. swapped out the intake manifold, exhaust, DME. he had custom piston heads made and had the head ported/polished and 272 cam.

They're called PISTONS. Not piston heads.

You're comparing custom pistons and different rods to a stock Eta bottom end. Apples to oranges. Also, whoever told you that the Eta rods are "weak" is an absolute fucking idiot.

plus they are heavier and thus rob the engine of power.

He did all of that WITHOUT swapping pistons and had it faster than an I?

I thought you pretty much HAD to swap pistons or else it'd be slower than a stock E because of the low compression?

I don't understand what your point is. I didn't say anything contrary to your statement. I said it will bolt on...perhaps my statement wasn't clear. I didn't mention internals only block. I think everyone is really saying the same thing. sorry..

You also said that the two bottom ends were the same, which is not true. The SETA had different pistons and rods.

heavier? they weigh almost exactly the same amount. how do they rob it of power?

my eta crank seems to do ok at 7.5k..

The basic 2.7i setup will not "snap" and is a huge improvement over an eta.
