Take the rocker retainers off #6 and turn the cam so both rockers are loose. Then put both rockers on the rear cam lobe and rotate the cam. Then do the same for #3. If you do it right, the rocker shafts will slide out very easily since all the rockers are off the lobes and none of the springs will be depressed.
Assemble the same way.
Beating on the end of the shafts will mushroom them enough to scratch the inside of the rockers, even using wood/plastic. We assembled about 20 m20 heads last year and had to trash a bunch of rockers because the previous "mechanic" who worked on the heads last, beat the shafts and ruined the rocker bushings.
I have a bag of about 20-30 rockers and can take pics if someone would like to show it.Comment
