    CPS Question! Car wont start!

My 89 325i died suddenly on the freeway with no stutter or hesitation. I tried the fuel and main relays, and replaced the CPS with no luck. I can smell fuel when cranking, not super strong but I can smell it. I do not hear the fuel pump priming though im not sure if I should be able to or not.

My question about the CPS is that the new CPS I got, the plug end is not the same as the one that i replaced it with. it fits in the connector but the wire comes out of the opposite side of the plug then the original. Could this be a problem???

This may be obvious, but did you make sure you didnt mix up the crank position sensor plug with the other one that goes to the spark plug impulse sensor?

Because I did noticed the impulse sensor plug is exactly the same as my new CPS, so that is how i plugged the wrong one in

Look in your oil filler hole, is the cam turning? As in, broken Timing belt?

These would be my two suggestions/questions as well.
