    Fuel Injector Cleaning

I've decided to give my fuel injectors a good cleaning since my car has a hesitation around 4000rpm. From the snippits I read online its suppose to be easy and I wanna tackle this in my garage tonight (driving 2-3 hours away tomorrow). Has anyone done this before? How difficult was it? Total time? I read the pelican parts article and it seems easy enough. No other parts have to be removed to get to the fuel rail? Are there any other good articles?

I got the injector seal kits from napa and a new fuel filter.

Ok did the cleaning... Took about 2 hours total to pull, clean and reinstall. I think its better and is alot snappier from launch to 4000rpm. I'm still getting some hesitation but abo 4-5k...

Butters, who did the flow matching and cleaning on your injectors? It was mail order and the guy did a great job.

So NAPA carries the rebuild kits for the injectors? Is it as simple as popping the tip off, installing new orings and popping the new tips on?

and cleaning the filter at the other end... i took parts cleaner and blasted it then took compressed air and shot it in there. once the liquid started coming out clear it was clean...

Where did you get the kit for the little injector pieces you replaced?

edit: Dan Stevenson, dano670 did the work, only $10/ea and $5 shipping, and he has 24v injector loaners so you don't have downtime (for those who are swapped - not on this subforum I suppose!). I'll try and find the link, but I did get to see a before/after flow test video and the results speak for themselves, it's simply the best option for refreshing the injectors.

I am the guy who does the injector cleaning. I made this video of my machine testing a cleaned set of injectors:

I haven't finished the website yet. More difficult then I thought.

The replacement pieces were from napa... they had them in stock. it was 4 bucks per injector

I sent mine to WitchHunter performance who turned them in a few days. I had them back in a week. $20 bucks an injector and they flow matched them to 1.5% variance. I ran the injectors for about a day before I broke a rocker arm, but that cleaning sure made a difference in throttle response!

The big improvements are between cold start smoothness and fuel economy. The butt dyno is hard to measure. Out of 6 injectors, usually 2 under perform. What happens is that they are a little lean on those 2 cylinders do the computer compensate by richening up the mixture on the bank of cylinders (cyl 1,2,3 or cyll 4,5,6).

To avoid confusion, my price is $10 per injector and $5 for shipping for all of them. 6 cylinder would be $65. My machines ultrasonically cleans the, backflowed to any particles internally in the injector, and tested to flow within 2% of each other.
